Stop by for a complete night of fun for the whole family and be prepared to be amazed by everything that our Universe has to offer!

The Aldrich Astronomical Society, Inc. would like to welcome the public to our annual free Starfest 2010 star party to be held on the campus of Anna Maria College in Paxton, Massachusetts on Saturday, July 31, 2010 from 6 PM to 10 PM in Foundress Hall. Aldrich members will offer some amazing talks as we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Hubble Space Telescope!
Aldrich wants to welcome people of all ages to this event which will offer multiple venues of talks, bottle rocket demonstrations and Walks through the Solar System for all to enjoy. The Aldrich Society will offer an engaging presentation in Zecco Theater by speakers from One Giant Leap who will talk about the dynamics of human spaceflight. Because this presentation will likely draw many interested people and families, Aldrich encourages the public to help us plan ahead by confirming that they plan to attend Starfest 2010 by logging onto the Aldrich website and letting us know you plan and how many would be in your party.

Skilled Aldrich Society members will offer equally enthralling presentations about Hubble Space Telescope 20th Anniversary, the Kepler Mission to find other Earths, Constellations, and Meteorites. As if this were not enough, we will also have kids check our Gyroscope demonstrator, see a high altitude SR-71 Blackbird Pressure Suit on display, take a close look at space mission patches from NASA and be on the lookout for mysterious erupting mentos geysers before you enter the building to sign up for the events! And younger Aldrich members will be offering tours through our model Solar System walk program which will allow everyone to get a sense of the size of the solar system and how far it really is to the nearest stars! And, every child who attends will be entered in a chance drawing for some really terrific spacey door prizes!
This event will be held indoors no matter what the weather brings but if our New England weather does cooperate, we will be offering observing through Aldrich member telescopes and binoculars which will be stationed behind the Science Building on the Anna Maria Campus. Aldrich will also offer a special member indoor display of telescopes and a separate display by Meade Telescope Company with handouts for visitors who have questions about looking at the night sky from their own backyard!
