Pack a brown bag and have lunch at Worcester Historical Museum and learn all about the city's passion for the great American past-time.

Dr. Janette Greenwood, History Professor at Clark University, will present a talk lead by her students on the history of Baseball in Worcester. Among the topics that will be examined: the shift from cricket to baseball in popularity; the first wave of baseball fever that swept Worcester in the years before the Civil War; early promotion of the sport; the socio-economic profile of both the first amateur and the first professional team; the shift of rules from Massachusetts to New York rules; gender and baseball.

This talk is based on archival research conducted by Dr. Greenwood and her students at Worcester Historical Museum and the Worcester Public Library.

Cost: Free with Museum admission.
