YOU, Inc., QCC garner Alden Awards

Worcester, MA - The Colleges of Worcester Consortium, Inc. held its third annual "Celebration of Higher Education in Central Massachusetts" on Monday, April 6 at Mechanics Hall.

George I. Alden Awards were presented to the YOU, Inc. Upward Bound program and the Advanced Robotics Initiative (ARI) at Quinsigamond Community College. YOU, Inc. was presented with the Higher Education Access Award and QCC earned the Excellence in Higher Education Award. Both awards carry a $5,000 prize.

Consortium to host Third Annual Alden Awards Dinner

Worcester, MA - The Colleges of Worcester Consortium, Inc. will host its Third Annual Celebration of Higher Education in Central Massachusetts on Monday, April 6 at Mechanics Hall.

This dinner reception will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and will feature the presentation of the third annual George I. Alden Awards.

Alden Higher Education Access Award, which recognizes an individual or organization that has shown exceptional commitment to the cause of educational opportunity, promoting and supporting the concept of access to higher education for all. The deadline for nominations is February 13.

Consortium releases annual report

Hanover TheatreWorcester, MA - The Colleges of Worcester Consortium, Inc. has released its 2007-2008 Annual Report entitled "Celebrating the Contributions of Higher Education to Worcester County."

In a year when the only major Massachusetts industries showing any appreciable growth were education and health services, Consortium colleges and universities, with their 30,000 students and 11,000 faculty and staff, continued to have a strong impact on Worcester County.

Recognition breakfast to honor 200 students
