Worcester, MA – Maryellen Weimer, Ph.D. will present a workshop entitled “Creating a Campus-wide Learning Experience” on Friday, February 23 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Beechwood Hotel . The event is sponsored by the Faculty Development Committee of the Colleges of Worcester Consortium, Inc.
The interactive presentation will be based on Dr. Weimer’s book Learner Centered Teaching, which identifies five areas of practice relevant to how much and how well students learn in campus venues as diverse as the classroom, library, laboratory, cafeteria and residence hall. Dr. Weimer is editor of The Teaching Professor newsletter and is associate professor of teaching and learning at the Berks-Lehigh Valley College of the Pennsylvania State University. A wine and cheese reception will follow the workshop from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. where participants will have the opportunity to obtain a signed copy of Dr. Weimer’s book.
The workshop complements the Certificate in College Teaching program offered by the Consortium, which prepares graduate students as well as adjunct and full-time faculty who aspire to, or who are currently engaged in, a career in academia. The certificate program represents a collaborative institutional response to the ever-present challenges of promoting exemplary teaching in today's complex higher education environments.
