Worcester, MA - The Colleges of Worcester Consortium, Inc. will host its Third Annual Celebration of Higher Education in Central Massachusetts on Monday, April 6 at Mechanics Hall.
This dinner reception will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and will feature the presentation of the third annual George I. Alden Awards.
The community-based Higher Education Access Award will recognize an individual or organization based in Central Massachusetts that has championed access to higher education for non-traditional students and adults. The Excellence in Higher Education Award will recognize a Worcester Consortium campus-based program that emphasizes creativity and promotion of educational excellence in higher education, collaboration, and the utilization of shared resources.
The keynote speaker for this event will be Charles F. Desmond, Ed.D., chairman of the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education (pictured above right). This event will recognize 35 years of opening doors to the future for adults in Massachusetts through the federally funded Educational Opportunity Centers.
In addition, the event will feature the fifth annual presentation of the Student Community Engagement Awards for excellence in service to the community. These awards are given annually to individual students or groups of students from each Consortium institution who provided exemplary service to their communities within the last year.
