Consortium Art Exhibition on Display at ARTSWorcester
Release Date:February 9, 2007
Worcester, MA - The Third Annual Colleges of Worcester Consortium Art Exhibition is now on display in the ARTSWorcester Gallery located at the Aurora Hotel, 660 Main Street.
The show is a juried group exhibition culled from emerging student artists within the Worcester Consortium and will include works in mixed media, photography, fiber, works on paper, sculpture, and painting. This exhibition, which began in 2005, highlights the wealth of artistic talent that exists within the local higher education community. Participating institutions are Anna Maria College, Assumption College, Clark University, College of the Holy Cross, Quinsigamond Community College, and Worcester State College. Works for the show were chosen by jurors including Susan Stoops of the Worcester Art Museum.
This exhibition, which is on display through March 10, 2007, is sponsored in part by the Colleges of Worcester Consortium, Inc. and is free and open to the public.
“The goal of this exhibition is to get students from our various colleges and universities talking to each other and interacting with one another,” said Catherine Wilcox-Titus, exhibition curator and assistant professor of visual and performing arts at Worcester State College. “By drawing our student population to downtown Worcester, this exhibit provides a tremendous outlet for cultural enrichment.”
The ARTSWorcester Gallery is open Tuesdays and Saturdays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Extended hours are available by appointment. The gallery is closed Sunday and Monday.
