Woo Tube 101 Contest Update

Release Date:
February 10, 2010
Due to technical difficulties associated with the YouTube.com Web site, the Consortium has decided to revise the original rules of the Woo Tube 101 contest in order to determine a winner and maintain the integrity of the competition.

The original rules stated that the video with the most views on YouTube during the period of February 1-15 would be the winner. However, many contestants have encountered uncontrollable technical problems on YouTube with the number of views being "frozen" when links to videos were shared on other social networking Web sites, etc.

Given these technical problems, we feel it is best to rework the original rules in order to present a more representative outcome.

The Consortium will create a panel of three judges who will evaluate all of the submitted videos beginning February 15. (If you've removed your video, you'll need to repost it before Feb. 15 so we can add it to the favorites on the Consortium You Tube page.) Videos will be evaluated in regards to their creativity and their ability to promote Worcester and the region. These judges will be chosen from outside of our organization and will have no affiliation to any Consortium college or university.

After the judges evaluate the videos, the winner will be notified and officially announced on the Consortium Web site (www.cowc.org) at noon on Wednesday, March 10. The prize for the winner will still be $1,000. As an added bonus, every participant in the contest will be given two complimentary tickets to the Guster concert at the Hanover Theatre on April 14.

We apologize for the technical glitches and we thank you for your participation in this contest. The ultimate goal was to showcase Worcester as the great city it is and all of the videos have more than conveyed that message.
