Worcester, MA - Odaris Roman was presented with a Woman of Distinction Award at a luncheon ceremony held at Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) on March 29.
Roman, a student at QCC and a work-study for the Colleges of Worcester Consortium, Inc., received the award "for her outstanding contribution to her family, peers and community."
QCC President Gail Carberry presented the Women of Distinction Awards to 32 honorees at the luncheon. A native of Fajardo, Puerto Rico, Roman is enrolled in the Computer Systems Engineering Technology (CSET) program at QCC. The mission of the CSET program is to prepare students for a broad range of career opportunities in the Information Technology (IT) field. Graduates are prepared to work in virtually any business or organization that utilizes computers and computer networks.
"Odaris is a great example of what we want all of our students to be," said Betty Lauer, associate professor of CSET at QCC, who nominated Roman for the award. "She stands out academically and is ethically reliable."
