Each year, about 7,000 students enrolled at Consortium institutions earn degrees (associate’s through doctoral) or complete certificates in one of nearly 300 majors and concentrations.
Worcester, MA - Consortium member institutions have once again been invited to participate in the city-wide Worcester Community Give A Book drive.
The annual book drive is conducted through the "Worcester: The City that Reads" committee, led by school committee member John Monfredo and City Councilor-At-Large Gary Rosen. The goal of this community service effort is to collect K-6 level books for distribution by the Worcester Public Schools to children who do not have adequate books for summer reading. Several Consortium institutions participated in 2007 and thousands of books were collected.
All institutions that wish to participate should identify a drop-off location on their respective campus where books will be collected and should designate a contact person. (Drop-off locations and contact information should be forwarded to Mike Vigneux, Director of Public Affairs, at mvigneux [at] cowc [dot] org or 508-754-6829 ext. 3016)
The on-campus collection of books will begin in March. The drive will run throughout March and April, and the Consortium will arrange to pick up the books at each participating campus in early May.
