Hear a different kind of coming-of-age story, that of a young womans search for her identity and place within the community of Americans. En Mis Palabras (In My Own Words) tells the story of the Americanization of a family, complete with its conflicts from four points of view to some beautiful music accompanied by Spanish acoustic guitar. Dont be surprised if you walk out humming the tunes.
Commissioned in 2008 by Central City Opera, En Mis Palabras was composed by Roger Ames with libretto by Jeff Gilden in English and Spanish with the intention of being easily accessible to speakers of either language.
